High Capacity Stone Aggregate Silo

The stone silo is a vertical, welded or bolted steel cylinder (3–20 m diameter, 10–50 m height) designed to store limestone, granite, basalt or river gravel at rates from 50 to 5 000 t. A 45–60° conical or flat bottom with air-slides ensures mass-flow discharge, preventing rat-holing and bridging. Inlet is via overhead conveyor, bucket elevator or radial stacker; outlet feeds belt, apron or vibrating feeders through manually or pneumatically operated quadrant gates. Silos are supplied with level radar, pressure/vacuum relief valves, and externally mounted bag-type or cartridge dust collectors that keep exhaust below 10 mg Nm⁻³. Optional wear liners, ceramic chutes and rubber impact pads extend shell life when handling sharp, high-abrasion aggregate. Hot-dip galvanized or epoxy-painted finish resists corrosive moisture and salts. Modular bolted designs allow capacity expansion without lengthy shutdowns. By providing weather-protected, first-in-first-out storage, the stone silo guarantees consistent feed to crushers, screens, concrete batch plants and asphalt dryers, reducing loader traffic, fuel use and dust emissions while maintaining aggregate quality and plant uptime.
