Benefits of Polyaluminum Chloride in Water Treatment

2025,10,20

Polyaluminum Chloride (PAC) is an inorganic coagulant used in water-treatment processes. It can be considered alongside alum and other coagulants, but its advantages depend on the selected grade, source water and treatment conditions. A general comparison is not a performance guarantee for a particular Lanyao product.

Potential benefits to investigate

For some waters, PAC may offer useful operating-pH flexibility or a lower required dose than alum. These are reasons to evaluate a candidate grade, not to assume that PAC is always superior. Establish suitable conditions with laboratory trials using representative water.

Compare dosage on a stated basis

Record the product form, declared concentration and whether dosage is reported as supplied product or on a defined active-content basis. Compare candidates against the same treated-water target. A smaller numerical dose is not meaningful if the products have different concentrations or reporting bases.

Measure separation and water quality

Assess floc formation, settling or flotation, and filtration performance where relevant to the plant. Measure the agreed turbidity, color and organic-water-quality indicators separately. Larger or faster-settling flocs do not by themselves prove that every treatment target has been met.

Check sludge and total operating cost

Do not infer lower sludge production or disposal cost solely from a lower coagulant dose. Measure relevant sludge quantities and handling characteristics, then account for product consumption, any pH adjustment, delivery, dosing and disposal. Compare total cost for an agreed volume treated to the required outcome.

Confirm the grade and application

Request the technical and safety data sheets, declared specifications and relevant batch documents. For drinking-water applications, check the specific grade's suitability and applicable requirements separately; a general PAC comparison is not evidence of approval.

Discuss a comparison trial

Share your water analysis, current coagulant, dose basis, plant conditions and treatment target with Lanyao. Request available grade information and plan a representative comparison before changing the treatment program.
