A jar test is a bench-scale comparison of candidate chemicals and operating conditions. For PAC, PFS and PAM, define the water, product and process conditions before comparing results. A successful jar result is a screening result, not an automatic plant dose or a compliance guarantee.
Use suitable jar-test equipment, equal sample volumes and appropriate measuring instruments. Record the vessel volume, paddle configuration, sample source, collection time, holding conditions, pH, temperature and relevant treatment measurements.
Use a representative sample of the actual stream for plant-dose evaluation. If storage, dilution or a synthetic sample is required by the study, document it and assess how it limits transfer to the plant. Tap water is not a substitute for a different process stream simply because it is convenient.
Follow the specific product instructions for solution concentration, preparation water, dissolution or activation, maturation time and usable solution age. PAM grades and supplied forms can require different preparation procedures; do not assume that every aged solution is unsuitable or that a single preparation method fits all products.
Compare repeatable results against the treatment target, chemical use, sludge handling and practical plant constraints. The clearest beaker or densest visible floc is not, by itself, proof of the best overall process. Confirm a candidate operating range under plant conditions and repeat the evaluation when the influent or products change.
How long does a jar test take? The total time depends on the documented mixing, separation and measurement method, as well as any product preparation. Do not assume one duration applies to every trial.
Can stored or diluted samples be used? Only when appropriate to the study design. Record the handling and dilution, and do not present the result as directly transferable without evaluating those differences.
Does a jar test set the plant dose? No. It identifies candidate products and conditions for further controlled evaluation on the real process.
Send the application, sample information, treatment target and current process through the inquiry page. Product information is available through the PAC product page, PFS category page, PAM category page and company page. Confirm the selected grade and documentation for the intended use.
