When PAC is added to domestic sewage, it undergoes hydrolysis to produce a series of positively charged hydrolysis products. These products can strongly adsorb the negatively charged colloidal particles in the sewage, such as those formed by the interaction of surfactants with oil stains and dust particles. Through the mechanisms of electrostatic neutralization and adsorption bridging, PAC promotes the aggregation of colloidal particles into larger flocs, which can then settle or be filtered out easily, thereby achieving effective solid-liquid separation and removing suspended solids and impurities from the water.
