Cationic Polyacrylamide (CPAM) is a water-soluble synthetic polymer derived from acrylamide monomers, modified with cationic functional groups (e.g., quaternary ammonium groups). It belongs to the family of polyelectrolytes and is characterized by its high molecular weight (typically 5–20 million Daltons) and strong positive charge density.

The cationic nature of CPAM enables it to interact effectively with negatively charged particles, colloids, and organic matter in aqueous systems. This makes it a versatile flocculant and coagulant aid widely used in industries such as Water Treatment, papermaking, and oil recovery.
