Cross-flow Lamella Clarifier – Horizontal Feed, Vertical Sludge Slide for Space-Critical Retrofits  

 

The Cross-flow Lamella Clarifier combines a horizontal inlet flow path with inclined plate settling, allowing influent to travel across the tank while solids settle vertically onto 55–60° plates and slide into a bottom hopper. This orthogonal pattern eliminates hydraulic short-circuiting, accepts variable flow surges up to 25 m³/(m²·h) and needs only 0.8 m side-water depth—ideal for shallow basements or elevated platforms. Flocculated wastewater enters a perforated inlet channel along one wall, moves laterally between PVC/SS plates, and exits via weirs on the opposite side; settled sludge thickens to 2–4 % solids before timed valve discharge. Typical uses include textile dye-house, metal-finishing rinse, storm-water overflow and Filter backwash recovery. Plate cassettes are removable for manual cleaning, enabling quick upgrade of existing horizontal-flow tanks to high-rate clarification without concrete work.
